In February 2025, Blount County, Alabama contracted Televate to conduct a Land Mobile Radio Assessment that focused on improving LMR services to law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel in the County and minimizing initial and recurring costs.
Project Tasks
As part of the assessment, the team performed the following tasks:
- Conducted interviews and surveys to gather information from law enforcement and fire/rescue personnel regarding public safety radio communications issues
- Conducted coverage simulations for VHF and 800 MHz system coverage using various network architectures
- Provided a comparative functional and financial analysis for three independent scenarios:
- Augment existing 800 MHz P25 Trunking system to deliver countywide mobile coverage
- Implement a new Project 25 conventional simulcast system to provide seamless countywide mobile coverage
- Migrate to FirstNet mission critical Push-To-Talk service with a land mobile radio system backup
Televate provided a recommended course of action for the County that varied depending on financial resources available to the County.
